Loehrs Forensics

Company Description Loehrs Forensics, LLC, founded in 1999, is a specialized computer forensics firm that evolved from a broader litigation support company to focus exclusively on digital forensics. The organization has developed a strong reputation for delivering high-quality digital forensics services with reliable, defensible results. Loehrs Forensics serves a diverse range of clients, including individuals, corporations, private attorneys, Federal Public Defender offices, court-appointed counsel and state and county defender offices across the United States, Puerto Rico, and Northern Mariana Islands. The firm’s work has contributed to favorable outcomes in both civil and criminal matters, including settlements, plea agreements, and case dismissals. Professionals joining the team can expect to work in a setting that values technical excellence, integrity, and impactful casework. Role Description This is a full‑time, hybrid Digital Forensics Examiner position based in Phoenix, Arizona. Responsibilities may be performed remotely, at the Loehrs Forensics laboratory, or on‑site at client locations, law enforcement facilities, and other investigative venues throughout the United States. The Digital Forensics Examiner will collect, preserve, and analyze digital evidence from computers, mobile devices, storage media, cloud‑based sources, and other electronic systems using industry‑standard forensic tools and methodologies. Additional responsibilities may include preparing demonstrative exhibits, assisting with litigation support, and participating in case strategy discussions. This role requires strict adherence to forensic best practices, chain‑of‑custody procedures, and evidentiary standards. The examiner may also provide expert testimony or technical support during depositions, hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings. Candidates should be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, managing multiple active cases, and traveling periodically for evidence collections, laboratory examinations, court appearances, training, and other case‑related assignments. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Digital Forensics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Criminal Justice, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered. Strong digital forensics skills, including evidence acquisition, forensic imaging, artifact analysis, and data recovery using tools such as EnCase, FTK, X‑Ways, Cellebrite, Magnet AXIOM, or similar platforms. Solid technical foundation in operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), file systems, network fundamentals, and mobile device ecosystems (iOS, Android). Experience reviewing and analyzing large datasets, logs, emails, and internet activity, with the ability to identify relevant patterns and case‑critical artifacts. Proficiency in writing clear, concise, and defensible forensic reports, including documentation of methods, tools, and results suitable for legal proceedings. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non‑technical audiences, including attorneys, clients, and court personnel, both verbally and in writing. Familiarity with legal and evidentiary principles such as chain of custody, admissibility, and best practices for handling digital evidence in civil and criminal matters. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem‑solving skills, with the capacity to work independently and manage multiple cases and deadlines. Ability to manage multiple cases while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel for case‑related assignments, including overnight and occasional nationwide travel. Ability to work remotely, in a laboratory environment, and on‑site at client, law enforcement, or government facilities as required. Ability to obtain and maintain access to law enforcement, government, and secure facilities, including passing any required background checks. Preferred Qualifications Professional certifications such as CCE, CCFE, CECI, CFCE, GIAC Certifications, forensic vendor certifications (e.g. Cellebrite or Magnet Forensics), or equivalent credentials. Experience conducting forensic examinations involving computers, mobile devices, cloud data, social media, and network artifacts. Familiarity with civil litigation, criminal investigations, eDiscovery, and expert witness support. Prior experience preparing reports and exhibits for attorneys, courts, government agencies, or corporate clients. Compensation and Benefits Competitive salary based on experience, qualifications, certifications, and demonstrated forensic expertise. $75,000–$120,000+ DOE Higher starting compensation available for candidates with substantial case experience, advanced certifications, specialized technical skills, or prior expert witness support experience. Employer‑sponsored retirement plan with company contribution/matching opportunities. Paid time off, holidays, and sick leave. Professional development, continuing education, and certification reimbursement opportunities. Company‑provided equipment and forensic software tools. Hybrid work schedule offering a combination of remote and in‑office work, subject to case requirements and evidence handling needs. Opportunities for travel throughout Arizona and nationwide for evidence collections, client meetings, court proceedings, training, and other case‑related activities. Supportive team environment with opportunities for advancement and specialization. How to Apply Qualified candidates should submit a resume and cover letter outlining their relevant experience, certifications, and forensic examination background.
