Metal Fabricator / Mechanic — Automation, Theatrical Sets & Museum Exhibits Build things that move, tell stories, and make people stop and look. We’re looking for a skilled Metal Fabricator / Mechanic to help bring automation systems, theatrical sets, and museum exhibits to life. This is hands‑on work where craftsmanship meets creativity—building the structures, mechanisms, and custom parts that turn ambitious ideas into working experiences. You might be fabricating a frame for a theatrical set, fitting components for an automated mechanism, or assembling an exhibit that visitors will interact with every day. The work calls for someone who cares about how things look, how they fit, and how reliably they function. What you’ll work on Custom metal fabrication for automation systems, theatrical scenery, and museum exhibits. Mechanical assemblies that make things move, including motors, bearings, shafts, linkages, and drive components. One-of-a-kind parts, prototypes, and finished assemblies built from blueprints and shop drawings. Fitting, testing, troubleshooting, and refining projects as they come together. Working with designers, project leads, and fellow builders to solve practical challenges and get the details right. What you need to bring Solid fabrication skills: You can lay out, cut, drill, grind, fit, and finish metal parts accurately. Equipment experience: You can confidently set up and operate a press brake, drill press, and manual mill . Welding ability: You can produce strong, consistent welds and select an appropriate approach for the material and application. Tell us which processes and materials you know best. Blueprint reading: You can interpret drawings, dimensions, and tolerances and turn them into finished work. Mechanical aptitude: You understand how components fit and work together and can troubleshoot when something binds, slips, or doesn’t move as intended. Pride in your work: You check measurements, pay attention to fit and finish, and build with safety and long-term reliability in mind. A collaborative mindset: You communicate clearly, ask good questions, and enjoy figuring things out with a team. Experience that would stand out A background in theatrical fabrication, scenic shops, museum exhibits, custom machinery, automation, or industrial maintenance is a plus. Experience with motors, gearboxes, pneumatics, rigging, or equipment installation is also valuable.
