Title: Registered Nurse: Deerfield Work Center State Role Title: Registered Nurse I Hiring Range: $38.78-$49.71/hour Pay Band: 4 Agency: Dept of Corr - Central Admin Location: Deerfield Correctional Center Agency Website: Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties Provides nursing care within adult institutions by utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating institutional patients per the standards of practice. Delivers a variety of services, including 24‑hour nursing care, telemedicine, chronic care clinics, sick‑call screenings/triage, medication administration, patient education, and basic life‑supporting/emergency care. Documents all pertinent information into the health record while maintaining confidentiality and coordinating with other departments as needed. Delegates tasks and workloads, and works required hours, days, and locations as assigned. Provides coverage when needed to meet institutional demands. Delivers evidence‑based nursing care and fosters continued competence through education and certification, with a focus on correctional nursing. Minimum Qualifications Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing program. Possess and maintain a valid unrestricted Virginia RN license issued by the board of nursing or a multi‑state compact license (or be scheduled to take the NCLEX‑RN exam if newly graduated). Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers with current certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) is required upon hire. Additional Considerations Experience working in a Corrections or Law Enforcement environment.
