Job Description

Openwork, formerly Meador Staffing, is currently recruiting for an experienced Lead Machinist for a day shift opportunity with a leading precision manufacturing company in the Houston area. This is a hands-on leadership role for a highly skilled machinist with extensive experience in manual machining, CNC machining, and CNC programming.

Schedule

Day Shift
MondayFriday 6am-3pm
Overtime opportunities available
Location: Houston, TX- near Hobby Airport
PAY:$30+ Depending on experience

Responsibilities

Lead daily machining operations while working alongside the production team.
Set up and operate both manual and CNC machine tools.
Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs to improve efficiency and quality.
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
Troubleshoot machining and programming issues to minimize downtime.
Verify part quality using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
Ensure jobs are completed accurately, safely, and on schedule.
Mentor and train machinists on best practices, machine operation, and quality standards.
Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to meet customer requirements.
Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

Qualifications

Extensive experience in manual machining, CNC machining, and CNC programming .
Strong background in machine set-ups, tooling, and precision machining.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Experience leading or mentoring machinists in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
