Environmental Senior Project Manager/Principal

Overview As an Environmental Senior Project Manager/Principal at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in Pittsburgh, PA, you will be responsible for managing current clients and developing new business. You will manage project teams that provide environmental assessments, subsurface investigations, soil and water remediation, and environmental permitting and compliance. Your duties include providing senior direction on projects for real‑estate, manufacturing, public sector, oil and gas, electric power generation/transmission, and waste‑management clients, performing quality assurance reviews, developing proposals and project budgets, ensuring compliance with CEC’s safety policies, managing technical staff, project financials, subcontractors, and performing data evaluation, interpretation, and report preparation. You will directly interact with clients, contractors, laboratories, and regulators. Senior Project Managers/Principals at CEC partner with management to mentor and assist in the professional development of staff, including annual performance reviews and setting professional development goals. Management will support your individual career goals through professional development and mentoring activities designed to enhance project‑management, leadership, and business‑development skills. Qualifications 15+ years’ experience in environmental consulting, with a minimum of 10 years in Project Management Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or related field Professional Engineering License (P.E.) or Professional Geologist (PG) is a plus Thorough understanding of state and federal environmental regulations (e.g., RCRA, Act 2, CERCLA, CWA) Strong knowledge of environmental site assessment and remediation, with ability to interpret data, communicate findings, and recommend actions relevant to project objectives Experience managing projects, budgeting, cost control, and meeting deadlines Experience supervising technical staff Experience in proposal development (scope of service, budget, schedule) and managing projects safely and efficiently Participation in client‑ and professional‑development organizations Established contacts in Real Estate, Oil & Gas, Mining, Power, Public Sector, Waste Management, and/or Manufacturing markets Demonstrated business‑development and client‑management experience Groundwater modeling experience is a plus Benefits CEC offers a flexible/hybrid work schedule.
