High school diploma, GED, or at least two years of experience in the healthcare field and/or related industry. Ability to work well with peers in a congenial work environment, maintaining compassion and dignity toward residents, and adhering to the Resident Bill of Rights. Ability to work beyond normal working hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call periods as necessary. Read, write, speak, and understand English. Maintain the highest standards in caring for residents and their families. Adhere to all facility policies and procedures. Responsibilities / Accountabilities Prepare and cook a wide variety of foods for residents, employees, and visitors. Prepare food according to recipes and plan cooking schedules to meet mealtime schedules. Perform related duties and cleaning duties as assigned. Direct other food service employees in the absence of the Food Service Director and Assistant Food Service Director. Handle and prepare food in accordance with sanitary regulations. Prepare palatable and appetizing meals as prescribed by the attending physician. Meet required meal schedules and take measures to avoid food waste. Properly care for dietary equipment and production sheets. Follow menus and special diet instructions. Communicate freely with the Food Service Director. Cooperate with other food service staff and facility personnel. Ensure that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere. Report occupational exposures per facility policy. Report work‑related injuries and illnesses immediately to supervisor. Complete all assigned training and skill competency. Participate in all life safety and emergency drills and trainings. Assist with evacuation of residents during emergency situations. Maintain confidentiality of PHI. Report non‑compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, or breaches in confidentiality. Protect residents from abuse and cooperate with investigations. Report any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation, exploitation, or mistreatment to supervisor/administrator. Report retaliation or discrimination to the Human Resources Director and Compliance Officer. Report suspicion of a crime to law enforcement and state agency. Perform other duties as requested. Annual Health Requirements Provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test. Physical and Sensory Requirements Move intermittently throughout the workday. Coping with mental and emotional stress of the position. Have sufficient vision and hearing, or use prosthetics as needed. Meet general health requirements, including medical and physical examination. Work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, or agitated residents. Push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and carry that weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
