The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring a smooth, positive and patient focused environment. The Medical Receptionist will perform their job duties in a professional manner while assuring that all the needs of the patients are met with a pleasant demeanor.Essential Functions:Handles all administrative functions for the medical operations including: patient registration, communication with vision plans for determining benefits and payment processing.Schedules, monitoring appointments, missed appointments, and documenting issuesAssists with the identification of "high risk" patients and include them in the patient registry(s)Enters data in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS)Responsible for accurate patient demographics, insurance eligibility and verification related to patient accountsAssist with patient questions and/or complaints for resolution of concernsComplies and ensures compliance with applicable legislation, funding and organizational requirements, policies and proceduresEnsure confidential handling of sensitive team member information in line with data protection policies and lawsPerforms other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is requiredCertificate in office administration, medical administration or related field and 2 (two) years of work experience in an office environment. Other combinations of higher education and extended experience may substitute for the degree when it demonstrates the ability to fulfill the requirements of the positionHIPAA and Privacy training within 90 days of employmentBlood borne pathogen training annuallyCPR/First Aid within initial 90 (ninety) days of hireAbility to understand, speak, communicate and read the English languageAbility to utilize RPMS and EHR proficientlyRequires ability to utilize a multi-line telephone with good telephone etiquetteProficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentialityWell-developed human relation skills to convey technical concepts to others and to give instructionsAbility to communicate technical information and to interact with a wide variety of groups and individuals inside and outside the organizationAbility to plan, organize, and prioritize work processes in a high-volume environment in order to meet schedules and timelinesAbility to analyze data from multiple information ports by comparing and contrasting data to draw a conclusion or to identify trendsAbility to communicate professionally in written, verbal, and non-verbal format while portraying a friendly tone, word choice, and body languageAbility to take initiative and be proactive in the duties of the position in order to meet mandated deadlines and to comply with goals and objectivesValid Washington State Driver's License is required and be insurablePhysical Requirements:Ability to sit for long periods of timeManual and finger dexterity to complete dutiesAbility to frequently bend, stoop, and reachAbility to push and pull frequentlyAbility to comprehend complex issuesSufficient visual acuity to write, recognize printed materials, computer screen, and notice non-verbal behaviorSpeech and hearing ability to project voice to small and large audiences, carry on telephone conversations, hear and grasp verbal communications and equipment promptsAbility to drive in adverse weather conditionsNote: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing.
