Overview APM Terminals The Assistant Inventory Manager supports terminal operations by ensuring accurate, safe, and cost-effective management of spare parts and warehouse inventory in alignment with APM Terminals’ global asset management standards. You will partner closely with Maintenance, Procurement, Finance, and HSSE teams to balance parts availability with inventory optimization, enabling equipment reliability and safe operations across critical terminal assets. Purpose of the Role We are seeking an Assistant Inventory Manager to support the execution of APM Terminals’ global warehouse and inventory strategy at the terminal level. In this role, you will apply a criticality-based approach to ensure spare parts availability while balancing inventory cost, safety, and asset reliability. You will work closely with Asset Management, Maintenance, Procurement, Finance, and HSSE to ensure inventory practices align with maintenance requirements, safety standards, and operational priorities. What We Are Looking For Continuous improvement mindset: we are looking for someone who brings a strong mindset of continuous improvement – someone who is naturally curious, committed to solving problems at the root, and driven to make things better every day A college degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on inventory and warehouse experience 2–3 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or maintenance support within a marine, industrial, or asset-intensive environment Experience working with CMMS or ERP systems, with IFS experience strongly preferred Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret inventory usage data, identify trends, and support operational decisions High attention to detail with a strong focus on data accuracy, documentation, and compliance Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multicultural and unionized environments Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory management reporting tools Responsibilities Maintain accurate and timely inventory records within the inventory management system (IFS), ensuring data integrity for part numbers, units of measure, and descriptions Coordinate and execute cycle counts and support annual physical inventory processes, including investigation and documentation of discrepancies Support reconciliation activities between inventory records and Finance, ensuring proper documentation of receipts, issues, and adjustments Monitor slow-moving and obsolete inventory and prepare periodic reporting with recommendations for management review Track minimum and maximum stock levels and recommend adjustments based on usage trends and criticality of assets Ensure parts availability to support maintenance of terminal equipment, including RTGs, top loaders, yard equipment, and reefer assets Develop, maintain, and report inventory KPIs and warehouse performance dashboards to support data-driven decision-making Coordinate with Procurement to monitor purchase orders, supplier performance, and delivery timelines Communicate parts availability and delivery status to maintenance planners and supervisors to support maintenance readiness Promote safe warehouse operations by participating in safety walks, inspections, and corrective action follow-up Benefits and Conditions Salary: $75K - $85K Location: Miami, FL Exposure to global inventory and asset management standards with the opportunity to localize best practices at the terminal level A balanced work environment that supports operational performance while recognizing the importance of safety, wellbeing, and sustainable workloads Ongoing professional development through hands-on learning, cross-functional collaboration, and access to continuous improvement initiatives Physical Demands & Work Environment You will work in both office and terminal environments and will regularly engage in warehouse and yard activities.
