Responsibilities Supervise the daily operations of the Aquatics team and any other assigned departments. Lead by example, embodying Splish Splash’s core values, and act as an approachable mentor and coach for all assigned team members. Become knowledgeable of all aquatics and lifeguarding positions, and backfill these positions when needed. Participate in all aspects of supervision of assigned employees, including hiring, orientation, training, performance coaching, and discipline. Ensure lifeguard rotations and performance meet or exceed Ellis and Associates standards. Ensure that all required meal and other breaks are given in accordance with NY law. Assist with team scheduling and time‑keeping activities. Delight guests with courteous assistance to address questions or concerns. Stay alert when assigned to swimming areas to ensure guest safety. Oversee daily morning checks for water attractions and waterslide testing. Oversee daily pool cleanings, tube field testing, and in‑service classes for assigned team. Provide bathroom breaks for all team members as needed. Render first‑aid within scope of knowledge to injured guests or team members. Handle operation‑related guest concerns and assist with lost children. Escalate major guest concerns to management or maintenance team in a timely manner. Maintain constant vigilance and proactively identify potential hazards; inform Park leadership and/or maintenance team. Ensure that all Park areas are clean and free of hazards prior to daily opening. React calmly and professionally during emergency situations and assist with crowd control. Ensure pre‑opening and closing check‑lists are completed by Aquatics team members. Update and ensure proper zone coverage and validations are done for each spot in the park. Complete additional duties assigned by leadership. Education & Experience No formal education required. 1–2 Years of previous lifeguard experience desirable. Must successfully complete Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Training Program and obtain Ellis Lifeguard Certification before duty. Must pass all certification requirements, including swim 200 yards front crawl or breaststroke, retrieve 10‑lb brick from 11 ft., and tread water without hands for 2 minutes. Language Fluent in English; Spanish or other bilingual skills considered a plus. Requirements Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with NY child labor laws. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Willingness to work with a diverse staff of lifeguards (American and international). Demonstrated ability to perform swim tests, water rescues, and assist operations. Compliance with all uniform policies. Safety‑oriented mindset; knowledge of federal, state, and local aquatics safety standards. Attendance of 4 hours of in‑service training per month. Ability to take control of emergency and intense situations while remaining calm, including crowd control. Willingness to learn and follow instructions. Guest‑focused and team‑oriented; ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Physical Requirements Swim 200 yards front crawl/freestyle or breaststroke. Retrieve a 10‑lb brick from at least 11 feet of water. tread water for 2 minutes without using hands. Stand or walk for extended periods. Swim, wade, and stand in moderate currents. Frequently kneel, stoop, bend, squat, twist, or reach above shoulder‑level. Use hands to grasp, finger, handle, or feel. Carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects up to 50 lbs. Aid and physically move guests of varying heights and weights. Vision Requirements Must possess 20/25 correct vision or wearing corrective lenses while on duty. Ability to see close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjust focus. Working Conditions Constant exposure to outdoor aquatics environments. Variable outdoor temperatures, high heat, direct sun, cold, humidity, dust, rain, and other weather conditions. Regular exposure to water and pool chemicals.
