Registered Nurse – PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | Varied 12-hour shifts (Monday–Friday), with start times ranging from 0500–0930; on-call requirements include approximately 5 weekend call shifts and 8 weeknight call shifts per quarter

Key Responsibilities

• Provide post-anesthesia recovery care for patients following a variety of surgical procedures including total joint replacements, general surgery, daVinci robotic, neuro, and urology cases
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 in an 8-bed PACU and 7-bed pre-op unit
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and EKG strips as part of ongoing patient assessment
• Manage ICU-level patients in the PACU as needed until inpatient beds become available
• Participate in on-call rotation covering weeknights (2200–0500 or 2200–0700) and weekends (0700–1900 or 1900–0700)
• Float between Main PACU and outpatient surgery center as operationally needed

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications
• Demonstrated acute post-anesthesia recovery experience
• Ability to read and interpret EKG strips
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR
• Must meet competency assessment requirements prior to assignment start

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience serving as a Charge Nurse in a PACU or surgical setting
• Familiarity with a diverse surgical patient population including neuro and robotic-assisted procedures
• Comfort managing higher-acuity patients in a PACU environment
