Food Services Employee/Staff Member

Assist in the overall day-to-day operations of the Food & Nutrition Program to operate a successful school cafeteria. The duties of this position include cooking, preparation, serving and storage of food as well as following all safety/sanitation procedures. The position reports to the Food Services Manager and Director of Food & Nutrition Services. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, knowledge of routine duties related to the storage, preparation and serving of food, and customer service skills.

Performance duties and responsibilities include assisting in preparation, cooking and serving of food, supervising children in the serving line, cleaning kitchen areas, washing utensils, performing cashiering duties, supporting in ordering and storing of food and supplies, restocking items, maintaining departmental and district policies, understanding and filling out all required documentation for school meals programs, following all safety and sanitation procedures, encouraging cooperation and trust in working with others, assisting with training and orientation of new staff, and performing any other duties as assigned.

Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting, pushing/pulling, crouching/squatting, carrying, climbing, reaching, coordination and balance, grasping/handling, bending, and exposure to extreme temperatures.

Evaluation is conducted annually by the Director of Food & Nutrition with input from the Kitchen Manager.
