Douglas County Community Services is seeking a committed, customer-focused individual to join our dedicated team in providing a key resource to the Community's senior population through various programs such as Meals-on-Wheels and Congregate Dining. In addition to preparing and transporting food and ensuring a clean and safe facility for Douglas County's Congregate Dining program , the Food Services worker also serves as a County Liaison to ensure the success of programs at satellite locations and special events, working with volunteers, and helping to build community relationships. The right individual will be a team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in their work, and is able to adapt to the needs of the moment. Primary Objectives
Performs intermediate work providing large quantity food preparation and serving according to standardized menus and recipes in an institutional, correctional, residential, or non-residential setting; performs related tasks as apparent or assigned.

Compensation
Douglas County uses a Pay for Performance compensation system, where employees receive annual performance evaluations and may be eligible for merit-based salary increases. Qualified employees can earn up to a 3% merit increase on their anniversary date, and may also receive an annual Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) during the first pay period of each fiscal year, based on the Consumer Price Index, up to a maximum of 5%. In addition, eligible employees who demonstrate exceptional, above-and-beyond performance may receive further compensation through the County's Recognition of Excellence Program.

None PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares, cooks, and serves meals according to meal-time schedule and established temperature guidelines; prepares meals and food products according to standard recipes, and/or other specifications.
- Participates in the preparation, cooking and portioning of meals; demonstrates proper care, storage, use, and cleaning of all tools and equipment.
- Inspects food preparation areas and equipment to ensure proper sanitary and safety procedures are met; demonstrates competent product knowledge by correct storing and handling of all perishables, maintaining quality and integrity; regularly checks and records storage temperatures.
- Maintains records of food and supplies used, meals served, etc.; prepares periodic and special reports.
- Monitors and maintains the security of facilities and equipment.
- Operates cleaning and cooking equipment; participates in the cleaning of the kitchen and dining areas and equipment; ensures proper storage of tools and equipment and the security of the storeroom.
- Ensures that production meets health, sanitation and quality standards established by the food industry and government agencies.
- Receives supplies and verifies the accuracy of deliveries; consults with supervisor on resolution of discrepancies.
- Performs complete inventories of food and supplies; stocks supplies as required.
- Transports food using county vehicle and monitors public donations received at satellite sites.
- Acts as County Liaison for County Programs at satellite sites and ensures program procedures and policies are followed.
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
- Represents the County with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public.
- Contributes effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives, and activities.
- High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience with proper food handling; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Valid Driver's License
- ServSafe Food Handler certification within six (6) months of date of employment
