Guest Service Representative

Job Title: Guest Service Representative Job Status: Part Time - Non-Exempt Department: Park and Recreation Services Primary Work Location: Community Recreation Center Reports To: Guest Service Manager Supervisory Responsibility: None Position Summary
The Guest Service Representative is responsible for greeting and assisting guests. This is a part-time year-round position (not seasonal). Candidates must be have availability on weekday mornings 7:45 am - 11:00am and Saturday and Sundays 11:30am - 3:00pm.
Essential Job Duties
• Develop general knowledge of Park District programs to respond to specific questions and to direct guests to the appropriate staff.
• Greet guests.
• Open/close Guest Service office.
• Answer telephone and provide accurate information or direct calls appropriately, taking accurate messages when necessary.
• Familiarity with the facility floor plan and emergency/evacuation procedures.
• Familiarity with the day's activities scheduled in the facility.
• Handle cash.
• Process program registrations and appropriate paperwork and waivers.
• Process/issue photo Identification cards to pass holders, members and employees.
• Operate office machines.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Attend staff meetings/trainings.
• Maintain necessary files.
• Process incoming/outgoing mail.
• Attendance/Punctuality - Demonstrate consistent attendance and on-time arrival.
• Performs the job safely and in compliance with Park District policies, procedures, work and safety rules.
• Participates in required training and safety programs as established by the Wheeling Park District.
• Supports and exhibits the organizational values of respect, communication, integrity, innovation, recognition and appreciation, continuous learning, fun, empowerment and people.
• Performs special projects or other duties as assigned. Position Requirements
Prefer High School or further Education. Previous office or customer service experience helpful but not necessary. General computer skills. Ability to deal with guests diplomatically, handle conflict appropriately and answer questions regarding Park District operations. The work week shall be designated by the Guest Service Manager as necessary to provide proper service and support to internal and external guests.
Skills and Abilities
• Demonstrate consistent attendance and on-time arrival.
• Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
• CPR/AED certification or be able to earn within 60 days. Physical Requirements

• Required to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb stairs, twist, talk and hear; use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tool, or controls and reach with hands and arms.

• Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment.
• Specific vision abilities are required and include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
• May need to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Working Conditions
• Most activities will be performed indoors.
• Driving to other park facilities will require the worker to be outside.
• Employee may be exposed to cleaning agents and toner chemicals.
