Senior Transit Planner

Job Summary Senior Transit Planner. Full‑time. Based in New York City or the greater Northeast. In‑person position, with remote work possible with manager permission. The role focuses on expanding the transit planning practice in the New York City and greater Northeast market by managing transit planning projects, developing staff, creating business opportunities, and submitting written proposals. Responsibilities & Qualifications Lead an interdisciplinary team on a variety of transit planning projects Write and review technical reports and develop presentations Interpret data analysis results to drive the development of recommendations and solutions Manage project budgets and schedules Help senior leadership develop a growth strategy for the transit planning practice in the New York City market Manage client relationships Identify new business opportunities and support business development Represent the company at industry events Lead proposal development Develop and implement internal processes that improve the work product Participate in relevant industry organizations, conferences, and other events Author thought‑leadership articles, blog posts, and related content Skills and Qualifications Entrepreneurial, enthusiastic, collaborative work style Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate clearly and persuasively Proficiency in using spreadsheets to interpret data and conduct complex analysis Expertise with Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator & InDesign) and ArcGIS Pro Familiarity with interactive mapping software, e.g., Remix Experience managing transit planning projects at a public agency or as a consultant for public‑agency work Transit planning experience in at least two of the following: transit service development; comprehensive operations analyses/bus network redesigns; bus priority/BRT planning; corridor studies/tactical mobility lanes; transit agency strategic plans Requirements 7–10 years of experience in the transportation planning field, including at least two years of experience managing planning projects Bachelor's degree in urban planning, transportation engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred) AICP or PE certification desirable but not required Compensation Base compensation range: $95,200 – $142,800 annually (based on local market).
