Job Opening Summary Position: Food Unit Lead Location: University City School District – 7220 Waterman Avenue, University City, MO 63130 (online applications only) Full‑time; Days may vary, 6:30 AM–2:30 PM (details upon interview) Pay: $17.00–$18.50 per hour Referral bonus available internally Requirement: Previous food‑service and cooking experience Chartwells K12 is a national provider of school‑catering programs, serving students in 4,300 schools. Job Summary Coordinates activities of other food‑service employees and creates an enjoyable dining experience for customers, staff, and visitors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide quality customer service with detailed one‑on‑one attention. Oversee and participate in the preparation and service of food and beverages in accordance with company standards for presentation, sanitation, safety, and portion control. Help plan menus. Ensure timely, efficient meal service; supervise meal serving. Respond to customer complaints in person and via email. Train employees; assign and coordinate work to promote efficiency and excellence. Determine work procedures, prepare schedules, and expedite workflow. Use proper systems for required daily, weekly, monthly reports (inventory‑cash reports, production records, payroll, time‑keeping). Responsible for proper cash handling as established by the Food Accounting Manual. Order food and necessary supplies from approved sources. Direct and participate in overall sanitation and safety of the facility and employees. Develop sanitation schedule and ensure compliance by staff. Issue written and oral instructions. Help select and orient employees; oversee training. Perform other duties as assigned.
