MANUAL LATHE OPERATOR / CNC LATHE MACHINIST
Monday - Friday
6:00 am - 4:30 pm
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Machinist to join our production team. In this role, you will read engineering blueprints, program and set up CNC machines, and manually operate conventional lathes to craft precision parts to exact tolerances. You will ensure quality control standards are met while keeping safety and efficiency top of mind.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Machine Setup & Operation: Set up, calibrate, and operate both manual lathes and CNC turning/milling centers.
Blueprint & CAD Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, CAD files, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) specifications.
Programming & Adjustments: Enter instructions, adjust feed rates and spindle speeds, and perform test runs or "prove-outs" on initial parts
Tooling & Maintenance: Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, and fixtures; monitor tool wear and perform routine preventive machine maintenance.
Quality Assurance: Inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to shop safety regulations, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), and keep the workspace clean and organized.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma or GED; completion of a vocational training program, trade school, or formal apprenticeship is preferred.
Experience: 2+ years of hands-on experience operating manual lathes and/or CNC machining centers in a manufacturing environment.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in manual turning, facing, threading, boring, and knurling.
- Strong understanding of CNC controls, tooling offsets, and basic code editing.
- Ability to read blueprints and use precision metrology tools (calipers, micrometers).
Math & Problem-Solving: Solid grasp of shop math, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
Physical Requirements : Ability to stand for extended shifts, work with heavy machinery, and lift up to 50 lbs safely.
