The role

As Communications and Marketing Lead, you will craft and share the story of Open Standard with a worldwide audience: the press, policymakers, institutions evaluating Open USD, and the people who will use it every day, often without knowing its name. In the emerging era of digital money, breakthrough companies will be judged not only by their products but by their ability to clearly explain them. You will own this responsibility, working closely with our CEO on major announcements, public appearances, and the overarching narrative that connects it all.

This is a unique opportunity to establish the public voice of a company at the center of a generational transformation in finance and to build the communications and marketing function as Open Standard scales.

What you'll do

• Own and maintain a unified company narrative across all communications, from press releases and regulatory filings to partner announcements.

• Lead communications strategy and execution for launches, including products, blockchain integrations, and partnerships, across a dynamic calendar with simultaneous external stakeholders.

• Partner with the communications teams of our leading partners and distributors; empower them to accurately and effectively represent Open Standard.

• Advise the CEO on all aspects of positioning, media interviews, public speaking, and thought leadership. Prepare for tough questions as well as friendly ones.

• Cultivate relationships with business, financial, technology, and trade press—becoming the go-to resource for journalists covering this industry.

• Collaborate with the General Counsel on sensitive and regulatory-facing communications, determining what to say, what not to say, and how to address complex questions.

• Develop and lead the content and social strategy across owned, earned, and executive channels, running point until the team expands.

• Manage agency relationships for additional capacity and reach, while retaining ownership of Open Standard’s story and message.

You may be a good fit if you

• 5-15 years of experience in communications and marketing for fintech, payments, financial services, crypto infrastructure, or regulated technology.

• Proven track record shaping the narrative of technically complex products for customers, partners, policymakers, and journalists.

• Direct experience advising a CEO and leading major announcements, including those that require crisis communication.

• Experienced in joint communications efforts with legal and policy teams, especially around regulated or contested issues.

• Capable of setting strategic direction and executing hands-on, knowing when each is appropriate.

Strong candidates may also have

• Helped build a new infrastructure category from the communications side.

• Led communications for businesses with numerous partners making coordinated announcements (platform, marketplace, network).

• Collaborated with policy or government relations teams on issues of financial regulation.

• Location: San Francisco or New York, hybrid with a mix of in-office and remote days
