Position Details Job Code: JC-521576 Position #: View phone number on click.appcast.io-XXX Working Title: Personnel Specialist Classification: PERSONNEL SPECIALIST Salary Range: $4,030.00 - $5,044.00 A / $4,632.00 - $5,807.00 B / $4,799.00 - $6,008.00 C / $5,184.00 - $6,488.00 D Number of Positions: 3 Work Location: Sacramento County Telework: Hybrid Job Type: Permanent, Full Time Job Description and Duties The California Department of Social Services, Human Resource Services Branch, Payroll and Benefits Unit is seeking an enthusiastic individual with outstanding customer service skills to serve as a Personnel Specialist. Selected candidates will attend an in-office Training Academy five days a week for the first three months of employment. Alternate work schedules and hybrid options may become available through the progression of demonstrated individual ability. Providing exceptional customer service by remediating inquiries from internal and external customers via phone, in person, MS TEAMS, and/or email. Interpret and apply laws and rules from various control agencies such as the State Personnel Board (SPB), California Department of Human Resources (CalHR), State Controller’s Office (SCO), and California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS). Process various Request for Personnel Action (RPAs) types such as appointments, pay differentials, and out-of-class assignments. Ensure timely and accurate processing for all payroll and personnel duties such as leaving accounting, overtime and adjustments, appointments and separations. Reconcile, certify, and release master payroll for full-time, part-time, and intermittent employees. Identify payroll discrepancies and complete necessary documents for correction independently by utilizing reference materials, policies, and procedures. Conduct employment history audits to ensure conformance with rules and regulations governing merit salary increases, range changes, state service benefits, leave of absences, and retirement benefits. Special Requirements A Statement of Qualifications must be submitted along with your application. The classification is eligible for a $2400 annual recruitment and retention pay differential every twelve consecutive qualifying pay periods.
