Job Title: Cytotechnologist Profession: Technologist Specialty: Cytotechnology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: 5 years in Cytotechnology License: New York Certifications: ASCP Must-Have: - Experience with EBUS, EUS, Thyroid FNA Procedures - Experience with EPIC Description: Cytologists participate in specialized and complex technical tasks involved in the processing and screening of cytological specimens. They detect evidence of cancer or other pathological conditions, ensuring the efficient and accurate testing of patient specimens. Cytologists participate in screening slides of clinical specimens, both gynecologic and non-gynecologic. They look for evidence of cancer or other pathological conditions according to departmental terminology and protocols. This includes marking abnormalities, rendering diagnoses, and determining cases for quality control or subsequent review with a pathologist. They perform various Quality Control and Quality Assurance procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations and protocols. Cytologists perform rapid on-site evaluations (ROSE) using tele-pathology systems in the collection, processing, and immediate evaluation of Fine Needle Aspirations.
