WHSmith North America has an exciting opportunity for Staff Accountant to join our team in Las Vegas, NV!

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting the company's financial operations by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, assisting with month-end close activities, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do

• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.
• Perform balance sheet and account reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Analyze financial data and investigate variances.
• Prepare and maintain supporting schedules for financial reporting.
• Assist with accounts receivable activities which include issuing invoices and applying payments.
• Experience reconciling high-volume POS transactions, credit card settlements, merchant processing fees, and chargebacks.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial transactions.
• Support annual audits and provide requested documentation to auditors.
• Assist with preparation of financial statements and management reports.
• Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Compensation: $62,000 - 80,000

Job Requirements

• Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
• 2 - 5 years of accounting experience.
• Must have a pleasant demeanor when dealing with customers both externally and internally.
• Must have exceptional levels of attention to detail.
• Experience with ERP systems and accounting software.
• Experience in a multi-entity or corporate accounting environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Skills such as typing/math and ability to use software programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and other company applications to create documents, correspondence, spreadsheets and manage databases.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field preferred.
