Workers' Compensation Associate Claim Representative (Early Talent) - Eastern Alliance

Job Overview ProAssurance is a specialty insurer focused on healthcare professional liability, products liability, legal professional liability, and workers' compensation. This hybrid position supports the Workers' Compensation line of business in the Eastern Alliance region and reports to our Charlotte NC or Ridgeland MS offices approximately twice a month. Responsibilities Respond to calls (35% of time) from policyholders, injured workers, and providers to direct medical care for unassigned medical-only claims. Review medical invoices (20%) for unassigned medical-only claims, contact insureds, injured workers, and providers to investigate and approve invoices within established timeframes. Investigate assigned claims (10%) to establish trust and assess coverage, determine injury extent, make fair determinations of compensability, prepare reports, establish and maintain accurate case reserves, and identify subrogation potential. Complete claim management activities (10%) proactively, maintain relationships with all parties, timely respond to inquiries, and pursue favorable outcomes. Professional development (10%) seek coaching, collaborate with supervisor, and attend industry events, seminars, and conferences. Special projects (5%) as assigned. Travel (5%) to customer, agency, and industry meetings occasionally. Department meetings and other duties (5%) as needed. Qualifications Preferred: Bachelor’s degree. A high‑school diploma or GED with a minimum of eight years of experience in medical, legal, or insurance can substitute. Basic knowledge of medical terminology, common procedures, and treatments. Some knowledge of applicable state laws and industry standards. Ability to attend insurance and industry events. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; willingness to learn new software. Excellent empathetic listening and communication skills. Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. Superior organization, time‑management, and attention to detail.
