Donation Communication Specialist I
The Donation Communication Specialist I (DCS I) serves as the initial point of contact for referrals to MORA. This role is responsible for gathering the appropriate level of medical information to support donor eligibility. The DCS I ensures timely and accurate distribution of clinical data to designated personnel for follow-up.
The expectation is that this introductory position will transition to Donation Communication Specialist II (DCS II), reflecting expanded responsibilities and a deeper level of engagement in the donation process. This transition should occur within 3 - 6 months.
This is not a remote position.
Requirements
- Nursing experience is preferred but not required.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to stay focused in an environment that has constant activity.
- Ability to maintain a positive and professional manner and to provide excellent customer service when dealing with all MORA partners and Donor Families.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Consistent demonstration of attention to detail, precision, accuracy, and a sense of urgency.
- Works empathetically, compassionately, and professionally with families in crisis and advocates for donation (eye/tissue/research/education).
- Keen attention to detail to ensure that pertinent data about donors is collected and recorded accurately and all processes are followed consistently.
- Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills, including the ability to simultaneously: manage multiple electronic chat conversations and referrals, Ability to input data into a computer accurately and quickly while talking on the phone, performed repeatedly and frequently during scheduled shifts.
- Excellent prioritization skills and ability to effectively manage multiple tasks with strict deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with internal stakeholders and partner organizations.
- Ability to function in a normal office environment.
- Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
- Ability to work outside normal business hours, including weekend and holidays rotations.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts.
- Ability to hear, comprehend clinical information, and speak clearly to document and convey information accurately.
- Ability to wear an approved headset for the duration of scheduled shifts.
- Ability to cope with highly charged emotional people and situations and work quickly and accurately, within limited timeframes.
