EVENTS LEAD- Davis Center at the Harlem MeerHAR SFM, LLCLOCATION: New York, NYDEPARTMENT: ICEREPORTS TO: GENERAL MANAGERSTATUS: PART-TIME (NON-EXEMPT) ABOUT THE COMPANY:Davis Center at the Harlem Meer is a brand new state-of-the-art recreational facility in New York City's iconic Central Park featuring a 1.25 acre outdoor area which houses an elliptical pool (280' x 120') that converts to a .75 acre public green during the spring & fall and features a full-size ice rink in the winter months. A 34,000 sq ft adjacent building houses locker rooms, public restrooms, and a large indoor gathering space to support all outdoor programming. Described by Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine as "one of the most important parks equity projects for the City in decades", the new Davis Center is the capstone project of the Central Park Conservancy's 40-year effort to restore Central Park and will serve as the hub for recreational and community programming in the area. POSITION SUMMARY:The Events Lead supervises staff during events as well as distribute and collect and count money banks and relieve staff for breaks. The team member is expected to provide excellent customer service to all guests and always display a vast amount of knowledge of the facility's programs and offerings. The Events Lead will also be responsible for a variety of duties dependent upon the need for the day while providing participants with a quality program experience. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:Provide courteous and friendly service to all guests and staff Enforce facility policies and proceduresHave general knowledge regarding program options and facility eventsSetup and take down of equipmentKeep supervisor informed of issues and updates Respond to all incidents, accidents, injuries, and altercations Complete and file corresponding paperwork as necessary Assist with daily maintenance and upkeep of department equipment inventoryAssist Operations Manager and Coordinators in day-to-day operations, event set and breakdownSupervise, manage breaks, and assign duties to event staff during shiftsProvide customer service and manage complaints, direct to appropriate manager to resolveTrain and coach new employeesInspect equipment and communicate the need for repairs or replacements to managementEnsure health and safety standards are followedFoster and maintain a positive work environmentResponsible for golf cart and Toro sign in and sign outPerform basic mathematical computations, balance drawers, and manage daily incomeReconcile cash boxes per proper procedureComplete special projects, daily assignments, and other duties as directed by managementMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Ability to work with a wide variety of ages from preschool through adultFlexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays, and long hours) and regular attendance is necessaryExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to maintain focus in a high-volume, fast-paced environmentMust have excellent guest service skillsMust be detail-oriented and have outstanding organizational skillsAbility to multi-task and prioritizeAbility to remain calm and focused in difficult and stressful situationsMust be respectful and friendly to our athletes, guests, visitors, spectators, leaders, and fellow team membersMust work well with othersMust take personal initiative for the betterment of the team and facilityCommitment to the safety and wellbeing of othersWORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Must be able to lift 50 pounds waist highWill be required to stand for extended periods of timeWill be required to work indoors and outdoors year-roundMust be able to work independently in a busy environmentMust comply with safety and health code standardsFacility has intermittent noiseMust wear proper uniformAble to run/walk as needed
