Project Manager

Project ManagerZimmerman Associates, Inc. (ZAI), in partnership with Dynamic Business Group (DBG), is seeking a Project Manager to support operations at the National Library of Medicine (NLM) in Bethesda, Maryland. This role is responsible for overseeing project activities, supervising staff, and ensuring the successful execution of collection management, bibliographic record maintenance, and digitization initiatives.The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, project management experience, and a background in library operations, records management, or digital preservation activities.Key Responsibilities• Plan, coordinate, and oversee day-to-day project operations. • Train, supervise, mentor, and evaluate professional and paraprofessional staff. • Monitor project workflows and ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with established standards. • Interpret bibliographic data elements and maintain bibliographic records within an integrated library system. • Oversee collection maintenance activities, including: • Collection inventory • Collection shifting • Book and journal binding • Book repair activities • Bibliographic record maintenance • Manage analog-to-digital reformatting and digitization projects. • Coordinate the preparation of collection materials for scanning and digitization. • Ensure quality assurance reviews are performed on scanned, copied, and digitized materials. • Supervise staff responsible for quality assurance and project deliverables. • Develop and implement quality assurance procedures and quality control measures. • Prepare reports, work instructions, and project documentation as required. • Ensure compliance with project requirements and performance standards.Required Qualifications• Minimum three (3) years of supervisory or project management experience. • Minimum three (3) years of recent experience in: • Bibliographic record searching and maintenance within an integrated library system. • Collection maintenance activities, including inventory management, shifting, binding, and preservation support. • Analog-to-digital reformatting or digitization projects. • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple priorities and staff. • Experience developing and maintaining quality assurance and quality control programs. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and project documentation.Preferred Qualifications• Master's Degree in Library Science (MLS) or Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution. • Experience supporting federal government agencies, libraries, archives, museums, or research institutions. • Experience with digital preservation, digitization workflows, and metadata management. • Knowledge of integrated library systems and library collection management practices.Key Competencies• Leadership and Team Management • Project Planning and Coordination • Quality Assurance and Quality Control • Library Operations and Collection Management • Digitization and Digital Preservation • Communication and Training • Problem Solving and Process ImprovementWork LocationThis position is 100% onsite at the National Library of Medicine (NLM) in Bethesda, Maryland.Why This Role?This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team supporting one of the world's premier biomedical libraries.
