Neurophysiology Associate

The Neurophysiology Associate supports intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IOM) services across both the operating room and outpatient settings. This role performs standard neurodiagnostic proceduresincluding nerve conduction studies and evoked potentialswhile working under the direct supervision of experienced neurophysiology staff and attending neurologists.

As an integral member of the surgical team, the Neurophysiology Associate collaborates closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and clinical staff to ensure patient safety and optimal surgical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IOM) procedures under supervision
• Assist with case setup, signal acquisition, and waveform interpretation
• Apply and maintain electrodes while ensuring patient safety and skin integrity
• Troubleshoot equipment and technical issues in real time
• Maintain compliance with electrical safety and infection control standards

Collaboration & Communication

• Communicate findings promptly to supervising neurologists and surgical teams
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary clinical teams
• Provide clear explanations and compassionate support to patients and families
• Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and educational sessions

Professional Development & Compliance

• Participate in ongoing training, education, and competency development
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to HIPAA standards
• Support quality improvement initiatives and departmental goals
• Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and accountability in all responsibilities

Qualifications

• Required: Associate's degree or higher
• Preferred: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Neuroscience, Biological Sciences, or related field
• Preferred: Graduate of an ABRET-recognized NIOM program

Experience

• Required: Experience in a healthcare setting
