Machinist and Lathe Operator - 1st Shift

AIM Heat Exchangers, a family-owned manufacturer of custom shell and tube heat exchangers seeks a full-time Machinist/Lathe Operator to work 1st shift.

Job Summary: Set up and operate a variety of equipment to machine parts according to specifications. Perform a variety of operations in the machine shop.

Essential Duties:

• Set up and operate machines such as lathes, drills, saws, and mills
• Primary duty will be lathe operator
• Read blueprints to determine product specifications and material needed
• Perform all job functions to meet acceptable quality and performance standards
• Marking machined parts with heat numbers for material traceability
• Communicate with co-workers and supervisors to receive instructions and coordinate activities
• Follow all safety procedures
• Drive a forklift to transport material
• Operate overhead crane
• Perform minor machine repair such as oiling or cleaning machines
• Other duties as assigned

Skills:

• Knowledge of machines and tools including drilling, tapping and layout
• Ability to use measuring devices such as calipers
• Strong math skills including ability to convert decimals to fractions
• Able to read and understand blueprints
• Experience in working with different types of materials
• Hold tight tolerances
• Documentation with attention to details and accuracy
• Ability to operate CNC machines a plus
• The ideal candidate will be a team player with the desire to learn and increase their value to the company over time. Must be willing to perform a variety of functions.

Experience:

• 3-5 years of machining experience
• Some personal tools may be required

Certifications:

• Forklift operation
• Overhead crane operation
• NYS driver's license

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent and minimum 3 years experience
