Club Sports Head Coach Flag Football

Grand Canyon University is seeking a Club Sports Head Coach – Flag Football to lead and develop a competitive, student-focused program. This role provides coaching, mentorship, and leadership to student‑athletes while overseeing practices, game strategy, recruiting, and team operations. The Head Coach ensures compliance with university and league standards, promotes sportsmanship and safety, and supports program growth in alignment with GCU’s mission and values. Responsibilities Ensure all aspects of Club Sports athletic programs comply with University standards and conference and national affiliation rules and regulations. Identify potential risk and helps in establishing criteria and plans for correction. Coach, counsel, advise and mentor student athletes. Work in association with the Club Sports Director and ensure the proper and student‑athlete certifications as required by University guidelines. Explain and demonstrate the principles, techniques, and methods of regulating movement of the human body, kinesiology, biomechanics, etc. to achieve proficiency in the assigned activity or sport. Observe students during practice to encourage good athletic skills and provide guidance for improvements. Assess student‑athlete capabilities. Explain and demonstrate use of apparatus and equipment. Promote good sportsmanship behavior and enforce discipline, establish and oversee appropriate penalties for breach of standards by members of the team according to Club Sports Student Handbook. Manage student‑athlete on and off‑campus recruiting programs. Assist in organizing competitions and tournaments. Assist and/or executes program development, develops strategies for competitions and enrollment growth expectations. Assist in implementing registration, payments and medical clearance compliance prior to student participation. Other duties as assigned. Equipment and Responsibilities Fundamentals of game rules, regulations, and officiating. Sport specific game and growth development strategy. University and league specific rules and regulations. MS Office Suite software. Supervisory Responsibilities May include all of any of the following: Volunteer Coaches, Graduate Assistants, Part‑time staff, Student Leaders. Qualifications 1 year of work experience in a similar capacity. Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record and occasionally operate University vehicles. CPR, First Aid and Coaches’ Safety Training certifications required; AED training preferred. Must perform duties which require irregular hours, out of town and/or overnight travel.
