Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic maintains and repairs all mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment and systems across plant machinery. This role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing rotating and reciprocating equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the facility.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment and systems for plant machinery to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Troubleshoot pumps and related mechanical systems to quickly identify and resolve issues.
• Perform repairs on rotating and reciprocating equipment, including assembling, disassembling, removing, installing, cleaning, and lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, pulleys, and other hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical parts.
• Repair or replace gauges, valves, regulators, and other components of hydraulic, pneumatic, and other fluid-powered equipment or mechanical systems.
• Carry out maintenance and repair tasks through the work order system, following established procedures and priorities.
• Accurately record all work performed and materials used to maintain clear and complete maintenance documentation.
• Operate lift trucks and powered lifts as required to safely move equipment, parts, and materials.
• Perform preventative maintenance on plant machinery to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
• Fit and thread piping as needed to support mechanical and fluid systems.

Essential Skills

• At least 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience working with plant machinery and equipment.
• Strong hands-on experience with hydraulic repair, including troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic systems and components.
• Strong hands-on experience with pneumatic repair, including troubleshooting and repairing pneumatic systems and components.
• Proficiency in maintaining and repairing mechanical systems, including rotating and reciprocating equipment.
• Ability to fit and thread piping for mechanical and fluid systems.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of EAST CHICAGO, IN.

The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $39.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
