The United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia's mission is to enforce the criminal laws of the United States and the District of Columbia, represent the interests of the United States in civil litigation, and respond to the public safety needs of the community by leading an effective, well-coordinated law enforcement effort that contributes to the overall goal of improving the quality of life in the District of Columbia. Duties This position is located in the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia (USAO-DC). The position conducts complex civil investigations involving suspected fraud, misuse of Federal funds, conflicts of interest, and other violations affecting government programs. The incumbent works closely with attorneys and Federal and state agencies to gather and analyze evidence and support civil enforcement actions. If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Investigator support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Columbia, located in Washington, District of Columbia, focusing in the areas of Fraud and Civil Investigations, Evidence Collection and Analysis, and Interagency and Litigation Support. Typical Work Assignments Will Include Planning and conducting complex investigations involving suspected violations of Federal, state, or local laws. Interviewing witnesses, informants, government officials, and other individuals to gather facts and develop investigative information. Reviewing financial records, electronic data, communications, and other evidence to identify relationships, verify facts, and develop investigative leads. Coordinating investigative activities with attorneys, law enforcement agencies, and other organizations, including subpoenas, surveillance, and evidence collection. Preparing investigative reports, exhibits, charts, and other materials that summarize findings and support civil or criminal litigation. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience for the respective grade level in which you are applying: To Qualify At The GS-12 Level, You Must Possess Specialized Experience: At least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS- 11 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing at least three (3) of the four (4) duties listed below: Planning and conducting complex investigations to identify potential violations, determine investigative methods, and develop evidence needed to support legal action. Conducting interviews and analyzing witness statements, financial records, electronic information, and other evidence relating to allegations under investigation, establish facts and develop investigative findings. Coordinating investigative activities with attorneys, law enforcement personnel, government agencies, or other organizations to obtain evidence and advance investigations. Drafting detailed investigative reports that present findings, conclusions, recommendations, and assessments of evidence for use by attorneys, investigators, or other officials.
