5x2, 4x3 - 9-hour days
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
This position will work cooperatively and collaboratively with members of the finance, accounting, operations, and technical staff. This position supervises the company's day-to-day corporate financial reporting activities, including supervising staff in the areas of financial accounting and reporting. Manage the internal financial close process; ensures timely and accurate completion of and compliance with SEC, GAAP and other regulatory requirements. Coordinates with mine operations on all cost and financial accounting related transactions. Assists in maintaining corporate controls, policies and procedures throughout the organization. Coordinates with outside audit professionals in conjunction with quarterly and annual audit processes. This position requires excellent analytical and critical thinking, attention to detail, strong communication and interpersonal skills. Reports to the company's Corporate Controller.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinate training, development and education of accounting personnel
- Supervise and review company's financial statements including consolidated balance sheet, income statements, cash flow statements and flash reports prepared in accordance with US generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and International Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Prepare and review external reporting requirements.
- Prepare and present budget/actual reports and variance reports for management.
- Supervises a staff of employees in the areas of financial accounting.
- Reviews and approves monthly journal entries and reconciliations
- Assist in coordinating internal and external audit activities.
- Make recommendations for improved financial operations, including resolving reporting efficiencies, improving processes and strengthening internal controls.
- Perform testing and implementation of new or revised accounting processes as deemed necessary.
- Perform and/or review accounting research; document company's position taken on GAAP compliance questions.
- Assist in maintaining company accounting policy and procedures.

- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Proven proficiency in the preparation and review of documents, reports and communication materials, including the advanced use of Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Proven excellent organizational skills including the ability to multitask, plan, prioritize and complete projects timely.
Preferred:
- JD Edwards software experience a plus.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and a minimum of eight years' experience in financial accounting, including a minimum of two years' managerial experience. CPA, MBA or CMA certification desired.
- Knowledge of SEC regulations and GAAP.
