About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: CV Neuro ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour shifts Hours per Shift: 7 PM and 7 AM Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: RN License Certifications: BLS and ACLS required Must-Have: Must pass ECG exam on day 2 (pass/fail) Description: This position requires working in a 16-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2. Common diagnoses include stroke, acute ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, subdural hematoma, brain tumors, cerebral edema, hydrocephalus, acute respiratory failure, sepsis, pneumonia, ARDS, COPD exacerbation, asthma exacerbation, acute heart failure, acute kidney injury, diabetic ketoacidosis, hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state, gastrointestinal bleeding, acute liver failure, and severe electrolyte abnormalities. RNs will titrate drips, including norepinephrine, epinephrine, phenylephrine, and dopamine, with some drips being at a set rate. Clinical techs will be available for assistance. RNs are required to read their own telemetry strips using Phillips telemetry monitors. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. Holidays include one major and one minor holiday each year. RNs will be the first to float to MSICU and PCCU as needed. Epic access is necessary for this position. Scrubs will be navy blue.
