Material Analyst Buyer

Material Analyst/Buyer The Material Analyst/Buyer will have the overall responsibility for planning and purchasing finished goods, raw materials and services for assigned product categories from global and domestic suppliers. This includes day‑to‑day inventory management based on historical data, supplier capacity, current demand, and future forecasts to maximize stock availability while minimizing inventory investment. The role requires effective communication across Sales, Planning, Purchasing and Senior Management, and daily supplier communication to ensure shipping schedules and backorders are met. Key Responsibilities Monitor, evaluate, plan and maintain stock levels, including MRP and placement of purchase orders. Monitor direct ship requests and place purchase orders. Work with vendors to obtain order acknowledgements confirming lead time and cost; update IT system. Negotiate volume discounts with vendors when applicable. Review open order reports regularly and manage daily communication with suppliers to assure timely shipping and address delays or capacity limitations. Proactively communicate timely and accurate inventory availability to internal and external customers. Demonstrate good judgment in reviewing past usage, current demand and forecasts to determine proper stock levels for manufacturing and inventory planning. Initiate inventory transfers from distribution centers or workrooms as needed. Provide inventory reports as needed. Initiate monthly forecasts to identify future demand to suppliers. Reconcile outside inventory monthly. Work with suppliers to maximize manufacturing capacity while keeping U.S. inventory within required guidelines. Quote customer delivery dates for new forecasted items. Work with transportation department on freight quotes as needed. Oversee and manage product returns to suppliers for quality issues and overstock situations. Participate in projects and collaborate cross‑functionally with associates from any department or level, including distribution centers and workrooms. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Related Field. Prior knowledge of purchasing processes and procedures. Strong working knowledge of MS Office, including advanced Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of textiles and international operations preferred. Benefits Competitive pay with career growth opportunities.
