Electronics Assembler This role focuses on assembling high-reliability electronic and electromechanical products for advanced simulation systems in an aerospace and defense environment. You will work on a variety of complex assemblies, using detailed build documentation, industry standards, and specialized tools to produce quality hardware that meets stringent customer requirements. This is a 2nd shift position operating on a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off while supporting a dynamic, metric-driven manufacturing operation. Responsibilities include assembling electronic components and subassemblies using assembly drawings, diagrams, and job aids to meet customer and program requirements. Perform fine-pitch soldering of circuit card assemblies, including BGA rework and repair of circuit cards, in accordance with applicable standards and procedures. Carry out manual and automated assembly of microelectronics and electromechanical assemblies as required by production demand. Fabricate and install semi-rigid wire and cable harnesses, ensuring correct routing, termination, and strain relief. Support winding and encapsulation of transformers and related components, depending on business needs and workload. Perform all assembly work in accordance with industry standards and internal company procedures to ensure consistent quality and compliance. Conduct continuity checks and basic electrical tests on in-process and completed work to verify proper functionality and workmanship. Operate basic production equipment such as soldering stations, crimp tools, microscopes, ovens, and related tools in a safe and controlled manner. Inspect completed work for workmanship, accuracy, and compliance with released build documentation, identifying nonconformances as they arise. Perform rework and repair activities as needed to correct nonconforming hardware, following approved repair instructions and guidelines. Accurately record production data in travelers, shop floor systems, and quality records to maintain complete and traceable documentation. Collaborate with technicians, engineers, and supervisors to clarify build instructions, resolve technical issues, and suggest process or tooling improvements. Follow all safety, ESD, FOD, and cleanliness guidelines to maintain a safe, organized, and compliant work area. Successfully complete in-house workmanship training and criteria classes and maintain required qualifications for continued employment. Work effectively within a metric-based manufacturing environment, meeting productivity, quality, and schedule targets. Handle and move materials and assemblies, including lifting and moving objects weighing up to 10 pounds, in support of production activities. Essential skills include at least 2 years of assembly or electronic experience, or an associate degree in electronics or a related technical discipline. Demonstrated soldering experience on electronic assemblies. Experience performing manufacturing or assembly tasks in a metric-based work environment. Ability to move objects weighing up to 10 pounds from one location to another. Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel for basic documentation and data entry tasks. Ability to follow detailed written instructions, drawings, and build documentation with a high level of accuracy. Ability to operate soldering stations, crimp tools, microscopes, ovens, and other basic production equipment safely. Strong attention to detail and commitment to performing work in accordance with industry and company standards. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with technicians, engineers, and supervisors. Additional skills and qualifications include previous or current certifications in IPC-610 and/or J-STD-001. Ability to solder at a Class 2 level in accordance with applicable standards. Experience performing tasks under a microscope on very small assemblies with excellent manual dexterity and precision. Ability to learn and perform tasks independently without continuous guidance or supervision. Demonstrated success working in a collaborative team environment with strong interpersonal skills. Ability to provide positive customer service interaction while performing assembly tasks when needed. Experience performing manufacturing or assembly tasks in a metric-based work environment, including meeting defined productivity and quality metrics. Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Outlook in addition to Word and Excel. The role is on 2nd shift, working from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM, including an unpaid 30-minute lunch, with a 9/80 schedule that provides every other Friday off. The schedule may change based on business needs, and relocation assistance is not provided. You will work at an electronics assembly workstation using soldering stations, crimp tools, microscopes, ovens, and other standard production equipment, frequently handling small components and assemblies. The environment follows strict safety, ESD, FOD, and cleanliness guidelines, requiring careful handling of sensitive electronic hardware and adherence to documented procedures. Work is metric-driven, with clear productivity and quality targets, and involves regular use of shop floor systems and basic office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook for documentation and communication. This is a Contract position based out of Buffalo, NY. The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
