Histology Technician

Under general supervision, prepares tissue specimens for routine and special procedures that aid in the confirmation of patient diagnosis. Responsibilities Prepares tissue specimens for routine and special procedures to aid in the confirmation of patient diagnosis. Gross, process, embed, cut, and stain surgical, biopsy and anatomical tissues for light and fluorescent microscopic slide review. Performs complex histologic procedures and analyzes and corrects problems using established scientific principles with some supervision. Reviews, records and analyzes data to support recommended judgments. Follows established policies and procedures. Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Experience using automated equipment and instruments including microscopes, microtomes, and other lab equipment. Exhibits accuracy and thoroughness; monitors own work for quality. Ability to work independently with strong attention to accuracy and detail. Ability to maintain strict protocols of all confidential or sensitive information. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Required Skills Three (3) years of histological experience is required.
