Registered Nurse Medical Unit Nights

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse on the Medical Unit Night shift is responsible for providing skilled nursing care to patients by utilizing the nursing process and collaborating with interdisciplinary team members. This role includes administering medications and treatments, developing individualized patient care plans, documenting care, and participating in performance improvement activities. The nurse must apply critical thinking to ensure patient safety and experience, and effectively communicate within the chain of command. Responsibilities:

• Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in compliance with nursing standards, policies, and state laws.
• Document patient care accurately according to standards of care.
• Develop and execute individualized patient care plans, including patient and family education.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support patient care and continuity.
• Participate in department or unit performance improvement and shared governance activities.
• Provide clinical expertise and guidance to other units or departments as needed.
• Apply critical thinking to ensure patient safety and escalate concerns appropriately.
• May be required to float to other units as a travel RN.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current Registered Nurse license in Wisconsin.
• CPR/BLS certification.
• Flu vaccination (for RN).
• Education verification.
• Ability to work night shifts and every other weekend and holiday.
• Strong clinical skills and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in a hospital medical unit or similar clinical setting.
• Familiarity with performance improvement and shared governance processes.
• Critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills.

Special Considerations:

• Must work 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM.
• Required to work every other weekend and holidays.
• May be required to float to other units as needed.
• Compliance with vaccination and licensure requirements is mandatory.

Scheduling:

• 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM.
• Work schedule includes every other weekend and holiday coverage.
