Helicopter Mechanic
$28 - $45 per hourThis role maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs helicopters to meet stringent safety and regulatory standards. You will perform inspections, routine and heavy maintenance, and complex mechanical and hydraulic diagnostics while using specialized tools and test equipment. The position requires strong technical skills, meticulous recordkeeping, and the ability to interpret regulatory and technical documentation to ensure aircraft remain safe, reliable, and mission-ready.
Responsibilities- Use test equipment to perform track and balance procedures on rotor systems and apply rotor system tracking and balancing theory to make precise adjustments.
- Interpret and apply Airworthiness Directives and Alert Service Bulletins to ensure compliance on applicable helicopter models.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as dial calipers, micrometers, tensiometers, dial bore gauges, feeler gauges, and borescopes to inspect and evaluate components.
- Adjust and troubleshoot engine parameters, including oil pressure, temperature indications, and topping settings, to ensure proper engine performance.
- Use common hand tools and torque tools correctly to apply proper torque to fasteners and ensure structural integrity.
- Inspect and repair aircraft in accordance with strict safety guidelines set by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) or other applicable regulatory authorities.
- Perform routine maintenance checks and diagnostic tests to identify hydraulic and mechanical issues and implement corrective actions.
- Read and interpret maintenance blueprints, manuals, and technical documents to support troubleshooting and repair activities.
- Order or coordinate parts, supplies, and equipment as needed and ensure they are properly documented and tracked.
- Keep detailed, accurate records of inspections, repairs, modifications, and all maintenance operations in accordance with repair station guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Complete assigned tasks within allotted time frames while meeting FAA (or equivalent) and company quality standards.
- Collaborate with other mechanics, engineers, and technical staff to perform repairs and ensure aircraft operate safely and efficiently.
- Support line, phase, and heavy maintenance activities, including engine, avionic, and mechanical repair and overhaul work as required.
- Work on a variety of helicopter platforms, including commercial and military aircraft, following applicable maintenance procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of experience as a helicopter mechanic, including a minimum of 2 years working on designated helicopter types such as Airbus (AS350, EC130, EC135, EC145), Agusta (109, 119, 139), Bell (206, 407, 429, 412, 505), MD (500), and Sikorsky (S76).
- Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license.
- Inspection Authorization (IA) license.
- Strong experience in helicopter inspection, aircraft maintenance, and repair, including turbine and heavy maintenance work.
- Working knowledge of blueprint reading, geometry, and trigonometry to support accurate measurements and alignments.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment in an aviation maintenance environment.
- Familiarity with aviation maintenance manuals and technical publications for line, phase, and heavy maintenance tasks.
- Ability to perform troubleshooting on engines, avionics, and mechanical systems, including repair and overhaul activities.
- Experience with major helicopter platforms and manufacturers, including Airbus, Bell, Eurocopter, and other commercial and military helicopters.
- Ability to complete maintenance tasks to FAA (or equivalent) and company standards while maintaining detailed documentation.
- Strong attention to detail, safety-focused mindset, and ability to follow strict regulatory and procedural requirements.
- Any OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) school training completed within the past 4 years.
- Experience working on both commercial and military helicopters.
- Leadership experience in a supervisory or management role within an aviation maintenance environment.
- Experience with line maintenance, phase maintenance, engine maintenance, avionics, repair and overhaul, and mechanical systems on helicopters.
- Familiarity with Eurocopter and other related helicopter platforms.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with mechanics, engineers, and other technical personnel.

You will work a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, with 8-hour shifts, in a professional shop setting focused on safety, cleanliness, and adherence to aviation maintenance standards.
