Job Title Theater Director Job Status Part-time/stipend FLSA Non-Exempt Reporting Functions Reports to the School Principal and Chaplain Job Summary The Theater Director provides visionary artistic leadership for the school's yearly musical production, with a commitment to excellence, innovation, and elevating the program to the highest standard of performance. This role is responsible for the entire production, including but not limited to auditions and casting, while directing all aspects of the performance. The director will design and lead rigorous and purposeful rehearsals, developing and guiding students' skills in acting, storytelling, music, and stage presence while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and artistic growth. The director will ensure alignment across all creative and technical elements to produce a cohesive and high-caliber performance while working with the entire musical staff. The director will maintain clear communication with students, families, and school personnel, manage rehearsal schedules and production timelines, and ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants and staff. General Duties and Responsibilities Selection of plays and musical productions pending approval of the chaplain and principal Scheduling Auditions Facilities use Rehearsals Performances Submitting requisitions for rental/procurement of rights Facilitating auditions Coordinating events with partner schools Rehearsal schedule and protocols Coordinating cast, crew, lighting and sound design, musicians Facilitating and coordinating with parents and parent organizations Communication with administration, faculty, students, and families Overseeing all rehearsals Any other duties as assigned Additional Conditions of Employment Due to the nature and mission of the Catholic Church, all employees are bound to exhibit respect for the teachings and discipline of the Church regarding matters of faith and morals, including maintaining a lifestyle that is in conformity with the teachings of the Catholic Church. Other Requirements Previous experience directing Previous experience working with children An understanding of child development and the skills necessary to relate to the students being taught The ability to handle situations with fairness and patience Good writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, a high degree of credibility, integrity, and self-confidence is essential Prior to Interview Clear records of Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Fingerprint Check as required under the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Act 153 of 2014 (No less than 1 year old). Also, attendance at the online Protecting God's Children class and Mandated Reporter Training. Working Conditions Stipend position, after school hours, which may be required to assist with special duties and work outside the normal school day to attend school-related events.
