Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant OperatorWe're hiring a Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to perform a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of a water/wastewater treatment plant, including equipment maintenance, quality control/testing, and day-to-day activities on an assigned shift. This role typically holds — or is working toward — an intermediate-level water/wastewater treatment certification. Pay: $20.00- $24.00 per hourWhat You'll DoOperate treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water/wastewater, sludge, and effluentMonitor gauges, meters, and control panelsObserve variations in operating conditions and interpret meter and gauge readingsOperate valves and gates either manually or by remote controlStart and stop pumps, engines, and generators to control and adjust flow and treatment processesMaintain shift logs and record meter and gauge readingsCollect samples and perform routine laboratory tests and analysesPerform routine maintenance functions and custodial dutiesMake operating decisions in the absence of supervisory personnelEstablish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of workWhat You BringHigh school diploma or GEDCertification at the level required by the state in which the project is locatedOne year of experience operating water/wastewater treatment plantsValid driver's licensePreferred QualificationsBasic familiarity with the principles and practices of water/wastewater treatment plant operations; operating principles of valves, pumps, and motors; principles and methods of bacteriological and chemical sewage analyses; effects of industrial waste on treatment processes; and safe work practicesWorking ConditionsWork is performed both indoors and outdoors, with possible exposure to loud noise, active machinery, high-pressure fluid systems, confined spaces, heights/depths, fumes, and chemicals. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and use standard PPE.
