Public Works Operations Supervisor

Public Works Department – Public Works Operations Supervisor The Public Works Department is recruiting for a Public Works Operations Supervisor who plans, directs, and supervises work crews involved in construction, maintenance, repair, and inspection of roads, flood control channels, landfill facilities, and landscaping projects. Essential Duties Inspect prospective job sites and landfill operations. Direct work crews to perform road striping and painting, sidewalk, ramp, and road repair. Direct equipment operators in excavation and grading of flood channels, basins, and levees. Investigate and correct hazardous conditions such as sand, debris, and snow removal from roads. Interact with the public and other agencies to investigate constituent concerns or complaints. Assign and evaluate work, write employee evaluations, and conduct investigations of incidents. Experience Four (4) years of full‑time equivalent experience in the maintenance or construction of roadways or flood control facilities, or landfill facilities, including two (2) years of full‑scope supervision of equipment operators and construction workers. Lead work experience and building construction experience will not be considered qualifying. Conditions of Employment Availability: Incumbents are subject to periodic after‑hour and emergency calls. Pre‑Employment Process: Incumbent must successfully complete a background check prior to appointment. Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required. A valid California Class C driver license and proof of liability insurance must be produced and maintained. Physical: Frequent sitting, standing; occasional walking, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, crawling, turning, balancing; requires power and precision grasping. Work Conditions: Frequently exposed to electricity, chemicals, fire, heat, oil, odors, dust, gas, hazardous materials, and noise. Works on rough and uneven terrain and exposure to extreme temperature or humidity.
