At Northrop Grumman, you’ll have the resources, support, and team to do some of the best work of your career.We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal Mechanical Engineer based out of Baltimore, MD.What You’ll Get to Do:The candidate for this position will join our Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) Engineering Team, within the Test Design Solutions Group, to develop solutions to support environmental, thermal, and vibration testing.Roles & Responsibilities:Design, build and support equipment cooling, vibration, and system test designsCross-collaborate with internal and external customers to gather requirements and provide solutions to meet those requirementsDetermine task schedules and levels of effort needed to meet program goalsCommunicate technical capabilities and risks associated with solutions to internal and external stakeholdersThis position is contingent upon the ability to obtain an active U.S Government Secret Clearance or the successful transfer of an active US. Government Secret Clearance prior to start.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of experience, master’s degree with 3 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degreeU.S Citizenship is required.Ability to obtain/maintain an active US Government Secret ClearanceA current/active clearance is not required to be considered for the position, but a final clearance is required to start5 years of experience with writing and maintaining design specifications5 years of proficiency with mechanical CAD design tools such as Siemens NX, SolidWorks, or similar5 years of experience with test design, maintenance, and repair of cooling and vibration test systems3 years of experience interpreting electrical schematics and interconnect diagramsPreferred Qualifications:Active US Government Secret clearanceAdvanced degrees in Mechanical Engineering, or related technical fields.Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP)Experience with designing cooling systems that use refrigerant and/or liquid coolingExperience with integration of hardwareExperience with MIL-STD-810 (Environmental Test Methods)Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills including experience presenting at design reviews and customer/stakeholder briefingsAbility to obtain EPA Section 608 Universal CertificationNorthrop Grumman provides a comprehensive benefits package and a work environment which encourages your growth and supports the mutual success of our people and our company. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
