Biometrics (Fingerprint) Technician - On Call

Job Overview This is an opportunity to work with the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) in meeting the mission of administering the nation’s lawful immigration system. As a Biometric Technician (BT), you will support the mission of a government program located in Austin, TX, as part of the USCIS Application Support Center (ASC) operations. The position is an on‑call (casual) team member with availability Monday through Friday 7:45 am–4:15 pm. Primary Responsibilities Complete biometrics registration for applicants seeking legal immigration to the United States. Ensure all entrants are approved applicants and visitors, providing crowd control and enforcing ASC rules and policies. Provide front‑line customer service as representatives of Amentum on behalf of the U.S. Government. Screen applicants for valid appointment notice and identification. Utilize crowd control barriers to ensure safe entry. Visually inspect applicants and belongings before entry; screen for illness status during health crises. Conduct periodic facility checks and report concerns. Assist the Site Supervisor and Immigration Service Officer with law enforcement calls. Maintain administrative paperwork, track processing times, reconcile biometrics data, manage visitor logs, and sign off on facility checks. Required Qualifications U.S. Citizenship to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. A High School Diploma or equivalent. Ability to speak and write in English. Physical ability to stand upright for the scheduled shift duration and hold applicant hands for fingerprints. Ability to work in a high-paced environment with the public. Basic computer and typing skills. Successful completion of biometrics training and certification within sixty days. Desired Skills Ability to speak a foreign language. Compensation $18.13 per hour with potential variations based on job responsibilities, experience, and market data.
