This role involves performing a wide variety of hands-on tasks in an outdoor, construction-focused environment, including installing protective fencing, completing general site clean-up, assisting with basic installations, and supporting field crews with day-to-day operational needs.

Responsibilities

• Install silt or silk fencing and other protective barriers on construction sites to control debris and erosion.
• Perform general site clean-up, including trash pick-up and removal of debris to maintain a safe and organized work area.
• Lay sod and assist with basic landscaping tasks as needed on job sites.
• Dig holes, set posts in the ground, and assist with building fences and other simple structures.
• Spray lines and mark locations to support accurate placement of materials and equipment.
• Assist with general post spotting and other field tasks as directed by site leadership.
• Use hand tools and basic mechanical tools safely for installation, repair, and general labor tasks.
• Support basic repair and service activities related to pumps, vac trucks, and other field equipment under guidance.
• Assist with heavy equipment operations such as skid steers and bobcats when needed and if trained, or provide ground support to operators.
• Perform carpentry-related labor, such as deck building support or simple structural tasks, when required.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining productivity and safety.
• Adapt to frequently changing job duties throughout the day and move between tasks as project needs change.
• Follow all safety guidelines, use appropriate personal protective equipment, and help maintain a safe work environment for the team.

• At least 1 year of experience working on a construction job site.
• At least 1 year of general labor experience in a physically demanding role.
• At least 1 year of experience performing basic tasks on construction sites such as general clean up, building fences, setting posts, and digging holes.
• Experience working outside in the elements performing laborer duties.
• Ability to use common hand tools safely and effectively.
• Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, digging, bending, and working on uneven terrain.
• Willingness and availability to work overtime, including early starts, late finishes, and occasional Saturdays.
• Reliable work ethic with the ability to follow instructions and complete tasks with minimal supervision.

• Experience working with heavy equipment such as skid steers and bobcats is a plus but not required.
• Mechanical aptitude and experience with hand tools, installation, or troubleshooting are highly desirable.
• Background in carpentry, deck building, or similar trades is beneficial.
• Landscaping experience, including sod installation and outdoor site work, is a strong plus.
• Exposure to vac trucks, pump repair, or related service work is advantageous.
• Comfort working in a variety of outdoor environments and weather conditions.
• Flexibility to handle changing tasks and priorities throughout the workday.

Work Environment

This position is full-time, typically working Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with frequent opportunities and expectations for overtime. Team members often start early or stay late, and Saturday work is possible based on project needs. The schedule and daily hours can fluctuate, and break times such as lunch may vary from day to day. The role is primarily outdoors on active construction sites, where you will work in various weather conditions and perform a range of physical tasks. You will use hand tools and may work around or in support of heavy equipment such as skid steers and bobcats, as well as vac trucks and pumps. The environment is described as very laid back, with a focus on moving from one job duty to another rather than meeting strict production quotas. You can expect to perform different tasks throughout the day and from one day to the next, providing a dynamic and varied work experience.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Axis, AL.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
