Utilities Repair Technician - 2nd Shift

Job Summary Utilities Repair Technician – 2nd Shift (2:30pm–10:30pm) located in the Large Power Systems Division, Lafayette, Indiana. This role involves mechanical troubleshooting and repair of complex domestic and foreign machines and equipment that perform assembly, torque, and material movement functions. Responsibilities Extensive experience in the mechanical and/or electrical repair of machine tools and related equipment. Completing an approved HVAC training program and having practical experience in HVAC. Installing, repairing, and maintaining hydraulic systems, precision bearings, HVAC, and other controllers on assembly‑area machines. Working with equipment such as boiler operation, pumps, P&H cranes and hoists, conveyors, torque tools, washers, ABB robots, paint booths, and test cells. Aligning and leveling machines, aligning shafts, gearing, welding, lubrication, pipefitting, and tube bending. Willingness to work overtime to support production demands. Qualifications Minimum five (5) years of industrial utilities and repair experience. Experience troubleshooting and repairing large‑scale dynamometers (helpful). Skills in troubleshooting and repairing pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including compressors and valves. Proven boiler operator experience. Ability to read and understand mechanical prints and basic electrical troubleshooting. Basic welding and cutting skills with ability to operate tools required for utilities controller work. Experience with ABB robots (helpful). Self‑starter, self‑motivated, capable of working independently as well as in a team environment. Physical Requirements Fast‑paced, medium‑to‑heavy duty assembly/technical environment. Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, turning, and climbing. Standing on concrete for 8+ hours. Ability to lift 40lb and perform repetitive hand movements with various tooling. Capability to work at heights and in confined spaces. Compensation & Benefits Hourly pay ranging from $38.52 to $49.03 plus a 6% shift premium. $5,000 sign‑on bonus. Up to $15,000 relocation lump‑sum payment for eligible candidates.
