Job Title: Inventory Coordinator/Production Control Coordinator

Job Description

This role oversees daily production control and inventory coordination to ensure that parts, racks, and materials flow smoothly through the manufacturing and logistics process. The Inventory Coordinator reviews inventory levels, monitors part status for multiple customers, and prioritizes shipments to protect production schedules and service requirements. This position plays a key role in preventing shortages, coordinating with scheduling and shipping teams, and maintaining accurate records in production and logistics systems.

Responsibilities

• Review morning inventories to identify potential critical parts and shortages.
• Check part status for all customers and ensure accurate, up-to-date information in relevant systems.
• Monitor and review parts owed to plants and take action to resolve discrepancies.
• Analyze plant needs and prepare any required expedites to protect production and customer requirements.
• Review all customers using the same part and prioritize shipments based on criticality and demand.
• Create shipping documents for early trucks and print pick lists at the shipping office.
• Add shortage parts to the critical list and update stakeholders on high-priority items.
• Coordinate with Scheduling to secure required die sets and plan changeovers to protect customer deliveries.
• Review rack status and daily rack inventory to identify and address rack shortages.
• Enter outbound shipments into the outbound logistics system (OBL) accurately and in a timely manner.
• Review car manifests in CMMS to locate and allocate required racks.
• Check TSAA for overdue rail cars or inbound trucks and escalate or follow up as needed.
• Review plant startup conditions for critical shortages and implement corrective actions.
• Update lineups in CMMS to inform customers what is being done about parts that are out of transit.
• Check all customers for cumulative (CUM) disagreements and work to resolve any discrepancies.
• Respond to all part shortage inquiries and provide clear, timely information to internal and external stakeholders.
• Monitor part statuses at customers in CMMS and update required status changes throughout the day.
• Review service parts requirements for the coming week and plan shipments accordingly.
• Monitor shipping progress for service parts, which may ship over several days, to ensure on-time delivery.
• Apply knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and constraint management to improve material flow and reduce bottlenecks.
• Support safety and MP&L (Material Planning & Logistics) practices in daily operations.
• Collaborate with production, logistics, procurement, and supply chain teams to maintain smooth operations and resolve issues quickly.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in manufacturing assembly and machining environments (desired).
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Safety and Material Planning & Logistics (MP&L) experience (a plus).
• Knowledge of constraint management principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and the broader MS Office Suite.
• Experience or strong capability in production control, project management, inventory management, and logistics.
• Ability to coordinate materials and schedules across multiple customers and plants.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when managing inventories, shipments, and system data.
• Effective communication skills to respond to part shortages and coordinate with internal teams and customers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
• Manufacturing plant experience (preferred).
• Background in automotive, supply chain, or procurement environments.
• Experience as a material coordinator or scheduler.
• Familiarity with CMMS or similar manufacturing and logistics systems.
• Ability to prioritize shipments and manage competing customer demands.
• Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks throughout the day.
• Comfort working with service parts planning and multi-day shipping schedules.

This is a Contract position based out of Lima, OH.

The pay range for this position is $28.50 - $28.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Lima,OH.
