Job Title: CNC Machinist

Shift: 6am - 2:30pm & 2pm - 10:30pm

Pay: $28-34/hr D.O.E (+10% shift differential)

Location: Fremont, CA

Job Description

This role focuses on programming, setting up, and operating CNC machinery to produce high-precision components while consistently meeting strict quality and safety standards. You will work with minimal supervision, perform complete machine setups, adjust offsets, interpret technical documentation, and verify parts using precision measuring tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete setup and operation of CNC equipment, including mills, lathes, grinders, and surface grinders as required.
• Load CNC programs, upload revised programs as needed, and make accurate machine offset adjustments.
• Read and interpret blueprints, process travelers, routers, work orders, and technical drawings to determine machining requirements.
• Apply GD&T principles and tolerance specifications to ensure parts meet engineering and customer requirements.
• Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Maintain tight-tolerance production requirements and verify dimensional accuracy throughout the machining process.
• Troubleshoot machining, quality, and production issues to minimize downtime and scrap.
• Conduct routine machine maintenance to ensure reliable and consistent operation of CNC and manual equipment.
• Follow established manufacturing, quality, and safety procedures, including 5S and lean manufacturing practices where applicable.
• Support production requirements for high-precision components in aerospace, semiconductor, medical device, and other advanced manufacturing environments.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company standards and PPE requirements.
• Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to meet production and quality goals while working independently when needed.
• Accurately document work performed and interact with ERP or manufacturing systems as required by shop processes.

Essential Skills

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of CNC machining experience preferred.
• Hands-on experience with CNC mills, lathes, grinders, or surface grinders.
• Ability to perform CNC machine setup, changeovers, and operation with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in loading CNC programs and making precise offset adjustments.
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings.
• Working knowledge of GD&T and tolerance specifications.
• Experience performing in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
• Proven ability to maintain tight-tolerance production requirements.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills for machining and quality issues.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment in a production environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Eligibility to work in an ITAR-controlled environment in accordance with US Person requirements.

• Familiar with in surface grinding and other precision grinding processes.
• Experience in aerospace manufacturing environments.
• Experience in semiconductor manufacturing environments.
• Experience in medical device manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.
• Experience working within a 5S-focused shop environment.
• Hands-on machine maintenance experience beyond routine tasks.
• ERP system experience for tracking jobs, work orders, and production data.
• Prior experience working in an ITAR-regulated manufacturing environment.

Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing and machine shop environment that supports production of high-precision components. You will work primarily on CNC machining equipment, including mills, lathes, and grinders, and may also use manual machines as needed. The facility is clean, organized, and strongly focused on safety, with required use of personal protective equipment. Work involves standing for most of the shift, performing frequent inspections, handling machined parts, and working around running machinery and related shop equipment. The environment follows structured manufacturing procedures, lean and 5S practices, and uses ERP systems to manage production and documentation.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Fremont, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $37.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
