Journeyman Toolmaker / Die Repair Specialist -- Blueprint & GD&T

Join a collaborative precision shop in Elk Grove Village where your craftsmanship directly impacts quality and throughput. If you’re comfortable taking a blueprint from concept to finished tool, and you don’t hesitate to jump in when a die needs troubleshooting, this role is for you.

About the job

Set up and operate manual mills and surface grinders to produce, fit, and repair tooling and dies.
Read and apply blueprints, engineering drawings, and setup sheets to plan and execute work.
Inspect components with micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments to verify tolerances.
Diagnose die issues and perform effective repairs to protect part quality and production uptime.
Collaborate with engineers and shop leads to improve tooling designs and machining processes.
Maintain a safe work area, follow 5S principles, and complete documentation accurately.

Must-haves

3+ years of Tool and Die Maker experience.
Independent setup and operation of milling and grinding equipment.
Strong print reading and interpretation skills.
Precision metrology skills and a detail-focused mindset.
Proven problem-solver with a hands-on approach.

Bonus points

Tool/die design experience; CAD/CAM exposure.
Background in metal stamping, forming, or die maintenance/repair.
Knowledge of ISO or AS9100D quality systems.
CNC milling experience in addition to manual machining.
Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Manual Vertical Mill: Bridgeport, ProtoTRAK, Sharp, Clausing, Supermax
