Registered Nurse - Baptist PCU - Days

Job Description The Registered Nurse serves as an expert in evaluating patients, administering care, recognizing complications and coordinating with other members of the critical care team. This position uses advanced skills to care for patients who are critically ill and at high risk for life‑threatening health problems. The role is responsible for responding to life‑saving situations, using nursing standards and protocols for treatment, acting as a patient advocate, and providing education and support to patient families. This position works with increasing independence to set criteria for the quality of patient care, assess patients' needs and provide care using specialized knowledge and skills, and evaluate outcomes and interventions. The individual also directs and guides patient care activities of ancillary personnel and other patient care personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing practice. Responsibilities Assess and diagnose patient and family needs to provide quality care to assigned patients. Develop, discuss, and communicate a realistic plan of care for each patient to address all identified needs. Demonstrate the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plans of care, nursing interventions, and procedures as required for patient care. Evaluate identified problems, care provided, and patient responses, and reassess to meet patient and family needs and ensure overall quality of care. Maintain up‑to‑date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to integrate information for use by the healthcare team and ensure quality care. Perform all responsibilities and duties required by the critical care unit/critical care division as defined in the scope of service, ensuring the unique nature of each client is addressed, including age considerations. Maintain current knowledge, certification, and licensure. Qualifications Minimum Education Technical Diploma/Certificate Nursing – Required Associate’s Degree Nursing – Required Bachelor’s Degree Nursing – Preferred Licenses and Certifications Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Florida or eligible compact state – Required upon hire BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS), American Heart Association – Required upon hire ACLS Provider (ACLS), American Heart Association – Required within 90 days National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIH) – Required upon hire Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Demonstrated clinical competence and completion of regulatory agency education classes in relevant nursing practice area.
