Job Summary And Qualifications The Child Life Specialist provides a therapeutic environment for the hospitalized child and family. The CLS evaluates the adjustment to the hospital environment and provides emotional support to patients and their families. The CLS acts as a resource for members of the healthcare team. What you will do in this role: Assesses the child’s developmental abilities and adjustment to hospital setting, for the therapeutic plan of care. Interprets data and evaluates responses Uses therapeutic techniques to prepare patients for treatments / procedures to reduce stress and trauma Provides a therapeutic environment, working with families/support groups Researches the latest trends concerning children in the hospital environment Uses expertise act as a resource both intra- and inter-departmentally Utilizes medical terminology appropriately Supports the facility’s Standards of Performance and ICARE values Qualifications: CCLS certification by the Child Life Council BLS from the American Heart Association Minimum of one year of experience preferred Benefits HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital, offers a total rewards package that supports the health, life, career and retirement of our colleagues.
