Position Description Manhattan University Baseball is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as Assistant Coach/Hitting Coach. This position serves as the primary assistant to the Head Baseball Coach and has significant responsibility for the daily coaching, development, preparation, and management of the program’s position players and offense. The Assistant Coach will oversee the program’s hitting and offensive development, coordinate position-player practice activities, coach the infield, assist with recruiting, and play an important role in game preparation and in-game decision-making. The Assistant Coach / Hitting Coach reports directly to the Head Baseball Coach, who retains final authority over program philosophy, personnel, roster construction, recruiting priorities, staff management, and baseball decisions. Job Responsibilities Serve as Assistant Coach and primary assistant to the Head Baseball Coach. Serve as Head Hitting Coach / Offensive Coordinator, overseeing offensive philosophy, hitting development, and daily hitting programming. Coordinate daily practice activities, hitting groups, and individual development for position players. Serve as the primary infield coach and oversee infield development. Serve as the team's third-base coach during games. Assist with in-game offensive strategy and decision-making. Lead offensive game preparation, including opponent scouting, pitcher preparation, scouting reports, and offensive game plans. Co-manage recruiting efforts with the Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator, with particular emphasis on hitters and position players. Participate in prospect evaluation, recruiting communication, on-campus recruiting, and appropriate recruiting paperwork. Assist with roster evaluation and identification of current and future position-player needs. Collaborate with player development, strength and conditioning, and other program personnel to support comprehensive student-athlete development. Assist with camps, fundraising, alumni engagement, and other program initiatives. Promote student-athlete academic achievement, accountability, sportsmanship, and adherence to program standards. Comply with all applicable Manhattan University, conference, and NCAA rules and policies. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Baseball Coach. Requirements Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, subject to University requirements. Baseball coaching, playing, or player-development experience. Strong knowledge of hitting instruction, offensive strategy, and position-player development. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule including practices, games, recruiting, travel, evenings, and weekends. Collegiate coaching and recruiting experience preferred. Experience with baseball technology, video, analytics, and contemporary player-development tools preferred. Manhattan University is an E-Verify employer.
