The Heritage Group is seeking an experienced Commercial Lines Marketing Specialist to join our Commercial Insurance division in Niskayuna, New York.

This position plays an important role in developing competitive insurance solutions for new and existing commercial clients. You will work closely with our Commercial Lines team and carrier partners to evaluate risks, prepare submissions, obtain and compare quotes, and develop professional proposals.

The ideal candidate has strong commercial insurance knowledge, established marketing and rating experience, and the ability to manage multiple submissions and renewal deadlines without sacrificing accuracy. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, communicates effectively, and knows how to match a client’s exposures with appropriate carrier options.

A successful Commercial Lines Marketing Specialist at The Heritage Group:

• Produces complete, accurate, and well-organized carrier submissions.

• Understands carrier appetite and selects appropriate markets for each risk.

• Proactively follows up on submissions, quotes, subjectivities, and approaching deadlines.

• Identifies material differences between carrier proposals.

• Communicates clearly with underwriters and agency team members.

• Maintains accurate and timely documentation in the agency management system.

• Takes ownership of assignments and follows through without repeated reminders.

• Remains organized and solutions-focused when priorities change.

• Contributes positively to a collaborative, client-focused team.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $140,000 annually , based on relevant experience, qualifications, licensing, technical knowledge, and job-related skills.

Compensation:

$110,000 - $140,000 yearly

Responsibilities:

• Market new and renewal commercial insurance accounts to appropriate carriers.

• Review applications, loss runs, exposure information, and supporting documents for accuracy and completeness.

• Identify missing information and work with the appropriate team member to obtain what is needed for a complete submission.

• Prepare clear, thorough, and professional submissions for carrier underwriters.

• Generate online quotes through carrier rating platforms for eligible small commercial risks.

• Communicate with underwriters regarding appetite, eligibility, pricing, coverage options, and outstanding requirements.

• Compare carrier proposals, premiums, coverage terms, exclusions, deductibles, and subjectivities.

• Prepare organized client proposals that clearly present available insurance options.

• Maintain accurate client, prospect, submission, and quote information in the agency management system.

• Track submissions and follow up with carrier partners to support established timelines.

• Respond promptly and professionally to internal and external inquiries.

• Assist the Commercial Lines team in developing insurance solutions that support client needs.

• Participate in company-paid continuing education and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

Required

• At least five years of commercial lines insurance experience.

• Active New York State Property and Casualty insurance license.

• Demonstrated experience marketing or rating commercial insurance accounts.

• Working knowledge of commercial coverage forms, applications, loss runs, and underwriting requirements.

• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation.

• Professional written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to prioritize multiple submissions, renewals, and deadlines.

• Comfort working with carrier portals, agency management systems, and Microsoft Office applications.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented office environment.

• Ability to work from our Niskayuna office and meet the position’s location requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience marketing both new business and renewal accounts.

• Established relationships with commercial carrier underwriters.

• Experience preparing and comparing proposals for small and middle-market commercial risks.

• Familiarity with multiple carrier rating and submission platforms.

• CPCU, CIC, CISR, CRM, or another recognized insurance designation.

• Experience working within an independent insurance agency.
